GO GO SISTERS

NGUYEN QUANG-DUNG

Hieu Phuong runs into an old friend, My Dung, who used to be the leader of Wild Horse, a friend group of six sassy girls back in high school. My Dung is suffering from cancer and upon hearing this news, Hieu Phuong is determined to find the other four members of Wild Horse to fulfill My Dung’s last wish. As she searches for her old friends, Hieu Phuong goes through cherished memories of the good old days during high school.

Born in 1978, Director Nguyen Quang Dũng graduated from Ho Chi Minh City’s Film and Theater College. He directed his first theatrical feature in 2005, “Hồn Trương Ba, Da Hàng Thịt” (2005). In spite of the expectation of a big hit, the movie failed at the box office because of bad reviews from film critics. However, movie-fans from the online community loved the movie. Understanding his audiences after his first failure, Nguyen Quang Dung made four back-to-back big hit movies – “Nụ Hôn Thần Chết” (2008), its sequel, “Giải Cứu Thần Chết” (2009), “Những Nụ Hôn Rực Rỡ” (2010) – the first Vietnamese commercial musical – and “Mỹ Nhân Kế” (2013), the first Vietnamese 3D kung-fu movie. “Go-Go Sisters”, a remake of a Korean hit called “Sunny”, has also become a big success in Vietnam.
