Rocking the Pacific
Featured in MTV Network 2009 and the Bejing Summer Olympics 2008, "The Hsu-nami", are known for their high level musicianship from their virtuoso melodic shredding "Erhu" (Chinese Fiddle), heavy guitar riffs and tasteful guitar solos in their music to add to the "progressive Asian sound scape" effect.
"he Hsu-nami", founded by Jack Hsu from Taiwan, is the first ever "Er-hu prog rock group" in the world. Its music features fusion of various styles from metal, psychedelic, prog rock to funk, incorporating the use of an amplified "Erhu" in place of lead vocals; it successfully showcases the cultural collaboration between the East and the West.
The group has performed with national acts such as, Yellowcard, Nightmare of You, The Parlor Mob, World Leader Pretends, and Jet Lag Gemini. It has also performed in many festivals, including the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans Festival, and the Passport 2 Taiwan Festival (both held in Union Square, NYC). http://hsu-nami.com/

A Behind the Scene Story
Sometime in the beginning of the year, sitting in the lounge of a hotel in New York, a Taiwan-born youngster, Jack, was talking to his Caucasian friend, Brent, about the possibility of participating in the upcoming TELUS TAIWANfest 2009. Enthusiasm about rock and roll music has made them the greatest friends, whereas the passion for performances injects energy into their lives. Jack has found Er-hu a new stage while Brent has successfully attempted the east-west cultural infusion. They will rock-and- roll all the way from New York to Vancouver. An encounter originated in Taiwan has allowed people to see the future of the world in their music.
