Love Matters

Egret Ladies Choir was first founded in 1996 with the Men Choir joined later. With the goal to facilitate the understanding of Taiwanese music, the choir participates in many events including the explorAsian heritage month, collaborates with Vancouver Chamber Choir and is the only non-professional group invited by the Vancouver MusicFest to perform. In this year’s festival, with the TCCS Folk Dance Club, they will bring a musical of wedding stories ranging from the blind dating, the wedding ceremony and wedding banquets with some of the best known classical Taiwanese fold songs.
The founder and conductor of Cecilia Chueh is a local Taiwanese Canadian music/cultural enthusiast. In 1990, she started "Music Night of Taiwanese Composers" aimed at introducing works of Taiwanese composers to the Canadian general public in order to promote mutual understanding between Canada and Taiwan in the field of music. With the famous composer Mr. Tyzen Hsiao as the special guest, the first concert was held at Vancouver Presbyterian Church and attended by an audience of more than 1000. The event since then evolved into the cultural festival with more than 85,000 attendance over three-day that we see today.
