HSBC Eco Art - The Golden Lifestyle

The NTCRI

Taking place in the Roundhouse Community Centre, Eco art exhibition returns to TAIWANfest this year in response to popular demand. For the first time, this popular exhibition will extend beyond the three day festival from 9/5- 9/21. Presented with National Taiwanese Craft Research Institute (NTCRI), a series of work crafted for a mature generation will be on display. The mature generation is a newly defined population age around 50-65 and nearly or already retired. This demographic is characterized with financial independence and emphasis on their well being in life style. They also choose to start a new journey in life by picking up new hobbies or learn new technology. They purchase products that are comfortable and vital for their new life style without sacrifice on elegance.  Respecting the specific needs of the golden lifestyle, artists of NTCRI crafted items that are both elegant and functional. This exhibit will not only reflect this year’s theme, “A New Journey” by using sustainable material, it also realizes a new life style older population demands. This series of craft was invited to the Interior Lifestyle Tokyo 2009, the most influential trade fair for interior products and design in Asia.

A Behind the Scene Story

Culture is a glimpse of real life and art is an expression of creativity. We proudly inherit the legacies left behind by our ancestors. Through working together with the National Taiwan Crafts Research Institute, we can sense the effort in trying to find the directions of its concepts in the various aspects of art. Seeing how the artists in Taiwan have been working so hard to create their own styles, we feel the beautiful energy which will be the legacy for the generations to come.
